Interview Questions
Describe your school/work attendance record.
I have missed very little of school and work. In fact, I have received several awards throughout grade school and raises at work due to my perfect attendance. The few times I did miss where for serious matters, such as a death in the family. Other then these times, I have made a point to stay in school and go to work because I value my education and my job, respectively.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
My response senior of high school:
In ten years, I hope to be very happy in life. This includes being married to a loving husband and us looking at starting a family together. In addition, at this time I hope to have a good paying job that I deeply love, too. I hope that at this point to start my residency in a pediatric neurology.
My response today:
I think in five years from now, I can see myself being very happy working as a physician on an Air Force base. I can see myself doing either a subspecialty of pediatrics or some form of critical care. In addition, I see myself married with two kids in a suburban neighborhood off base. I will be coaching my kids little league baseball or soccer team, too.
Give me an example of a time that you felt you went above and beyond the call of duty at work?
Without revealing too much details due to HIPAA, when I was a medical assistant at MIND, a female patient in her 60s by the name M had tried every medication out there for Myasthenia Gravis, with each one failing to control her symptoms. Patient M at been at it for three years looking for something that might eliminate her symptoms let alone minimize them. After much talk with the doctor I worked under, it was decided that we would try to get her started on an infusion medication called Vyvgart. After submitting the paperwork and talking to the drug rep myself at a sponsored lunch, my doctor and I felt confident that patient M would be approved and start this infusion near her home which was an hour and a half away from the clinic. A couple weeks later, the insurance denial letter was received stating that the patient must try X, Y, Z drug before starting the infusion. Looking at the paperwork submitted, I noticed that the prior-authorization team for medications had some medications missing. I reached out to them and ended up compiling a list of all the medications she had taken by combing through her entire chart and putting it into a note in her record for them to resubmit. The approval letter came in the mail a week or so later, and then patient M was able to start her infusion a couple weeks. Still to this day, she is doing fantastic and not having to stay at home because she is exhausted but rather she can keep up with her grandkids and go on her cruises that she loves!
What motivates you to do your best?
What motivates me to do my best is my fear of being average. As a result, pushing myself to the greatest of my abilities is a goal I strive for because this attitude will ultimately take me where I want to go in life.
What would you do if you found a penguin in a freezer?
If I found a penguin in the freezer, I would take care of the penguin til I could ship it off to a penguin sanctuary in South Africa. There, the penguin could be in nature, instead of in captivity if I had taken it to the zoo.
